As the National Schooling Landscape navigates the difficulties between holding classes remotely or in-person, the CDC last week released new indicators to help schools in their decision-making processes.

Altogether, the indicators give some sort of measurement to make sense of how school administrators should strategize around this very unprecedented situation.

The indicators look at several factors, such as:

  • The number of new cases per 100,000 persons within the last 14 days
  • The percent change in new cases per 100,000 population during the last seven days compared with the previous seven days
  • The percentage of occupied inpatient beds in the community hospitals.

The indicators also take into account the capacity of schools to execute on five key mitigation strategies:

  • The number of new cases per 100,000 persons within the last 14 days
  • Correct Mask Usage and Consistency
  • Social distancing
  • Hand hygiene practices
  • Respiratory protocols
  • Cleaning and disinfection implementation
  • And finally, Contact tracing in collaboration with the local health department.

Time will tell, but it will be interesting to see how these guidelines help schools across the nation, and particularly in heavily populated areas, navigate what has already become one unforgettable school year.

At A&A, we understand that difficult times such as these calls for a cleaning provider that goes above and beyond to partner with you every step of the way. That’s why we work tirelessly to provide our clients with a greater customer experience, every day.
